Treatment of closed two-part triplane fracture of distal tibial segment using a posterior antiglide plate

چکیده
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of the management of triplane fractures of the distal tibial segment by using the posterior antiglide plate. Methods: Fourteen patients (9 male, 5 female; average age 14.2 years; range 12-17 years) who had closed two-part triplane fractures were enrolled. In all cases, the distal metaphyseal fracture of the tibia was reduced, and a plate was placed across the length of the fracture in the buttress (antiglide) mode, according to the shape of the posterior tibial segment that required prebending. The average duration of follow-up was 15.3 (range 12-20) months. Results: At the end of follow-up, all patients had excellent outcomes. They remained asymptomatic without any limitations to the weight-bearing function of the affected side compared to the unaffected contralateral side. Conclusions: The posterior antiglide plate may be a suitable option for the distal tibial fixation in patients with two-part triplane fractures.

Ipsilateral tibial shaft fracture and distal tibial triplane fracture with an intact fibula: a case report.
We present a case of an ipsilateral tibial shaft fracture and a distal tibial triplane fracture with an intact fibula in a 14-year-old boy. Computed tomography revealed the distal tibial triplane fracture with a 2.6-mm displaced Tillaux fragment and a posterior malleolar shear fragment. Open reduction and internal fixation was performed to optimise healing and outcome. This is a rare injury, fo...
متن کاملThe role of CT in diagnosis and treatment of distal tibial fractures with intra-articular involvement in children.
AIM Distal tibial fractures with intra-articular involvement during childhood are injuries with potentially severe complications if not treated promptly. Daily clinical practice indicates that sole use of plain radiographs may lead to misdiagnosis and subsequent erroneous selection of suitable treatment. The role of computed tomography (CT) in the classification and treatment decision of these ...
متن کاملTriplane Ankle Fracture with Concomitant Ipsilateral Shaft of Tibia Fracture: Case Report and Review of Literature
INTRODUCTION Triplane fracture is a rare adolescent ankle injury. Its association with ipsilateral tibial shaft fracture is very rarely reported in the literature. CASE REPORT This is a case of a 14-year-old male who sustained a twisting injury to his right leg after a fall from a height. He sustained a minimally displaced spiral fracture of the mid-shaft of his right tibia with a concomitant...

BACKGROUND Plate on plate technique can lessen operative time and patient morbidity. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) using plate on plate technique of locking plate fixation for closed fractures of distal tibia in a prospective study. PATIENTS AND METHODS Twenty-five patients with distal tibial fractures we...
متن کاملAssessment of the treatment outcome of closed extra-articular distal tibia fracture: IM nailing vs plating
Abstract Background: The tibial diaphyseal fractures are the most common type of long bone fractures encountered by most orthopedic surgeons. In accordance with descriptive indices of tibia fractures on the basis of their location in the bone, distal tibia fractures have the second incidence of all tibia fractures after the middle tibia fractures. The purpose of the study was to asses...
